The Des Moines Symphony's Yankee Doodle Pops concert is one of my favorite family traditions. Tons of good food, my favorite family and friends, and great music (and fireworks)...what more could a girl want on the 4th of July? We always get there plenty early and claim a good spot - some shade and lots of space for the kids to run around. The kids literally ran circles around us (in between bites of cookies, brownies, and an occasional veggie) until a parent smarter than myself got out the UNO cards. Then, they played a few games (in between bites of Twizzlers, cake batter popcorn, and chips). The Des Moines Symphony put on another fabulous show capped off with a beautiful fireworks display. All in all, another perfect Independence Day celebration.
| We never run out of food... |
We were just some of the 100,000 folks enjoying the beautiful weather and music...
It may not look like it, but this was actually Mazzie & Easton trying to HUG...

| Mazzie may have had two July 4th outfits. :-) |
